Magpie at the Jewelry Fair!

Magpie is participating in the Jewelry Fair again this year — and this might be my most favorite set yet! It’s a bit of a departure from some of my previous, more casual offerings, but hopefully you can still see a bit of the Magpie aesthetic in there 🙂 When contemplating what I wanted to make this year for the fair, I was captivated by the popular medieval fantasy novel I was reading at the time so I set out to make something with a period feel. Pieces of the set are sold separately, and in four different color combinations. This is my most ambitious set to date — I hope you enjoy it!!

Jewelry Fair Opens TOMORROW!

Tomorrow, Sept. 16, one of my favorite events gets started — the annual Jewelry Fair, presented by the Jewelers of SL group. I’ve been attending the fair since I was rezzed… and this is my third year as a merchant as well. I’ve had the privilege of walking around the fair sims, watching folks setting up, and seeing some of their fantastic new designs … and you are in for a treat!

You’ve already started to see some previews of new releases, and should be seeing more soon because as I write this, bloggers are roaming the fair! For a little more eye candy, be sure to check out the official Jewelry Fair 2011 Flickr group.

I found myself left to my own devices last night and, of course, went on an impromptu shopping/styling/exploring/photographing/photoshopping spree 😀 I’m so crazy about all the denim that Zaara is doing these days — I expect I made a mistake in not fatpacking this skirt. The older I get, and the more packed my inventory gets, the more I’m willing to splurge on really high-quality basics for my everyday wardrobe. This skirt is one of those pieces (along with her new jeans and shorts) that are a wardrobe staple. The top is from Berries, Inc., on sale right now as the store is planning to close its doors in a couple of weeks 😦 All the clothes I have from Berries, Inc. are extremely well made … and simple enough to serve as wardrobe staples as well — so this is a good opportunity to stock up. This shirt comes in three levels of sheer-ness … This is the most transparent version, just to give my husband a smile ;).  And not to be missed is this terrific hair from Truth (haven’t taken it off since I bought it!), and the extremely versatile jewelry from Sn@tch (color change, of course!)

Lots of awesome newness today, my friends! If you, like me, routinely miss group messages, take note — Exodi VIPs have new group gift for August — Sophie. This might be one of my favorite faces from Exodi yet! And I was completely delighted to see that the eyeshadow on the skin perfectly matched my new eyes from Insufferable Dastard. These eyes are some of their newest releases – Mirror, and are just gorgeous. The pack comes with prim eyes, and various base options.

While I was at Insufferable Dastard, I took a look at the latest free gift, set out for anybody. Its a nice lip “fade” which just kinda stains your lip without covering the entire lip area. I love the dimension and subtle color it gives to the lip without overwhelming it. I’m not really much of a lipstick girl — so this is perfect. I loved the free gift so much, I joined the Insufferable Dastard group for a small fee and got an entire set as a gift. And even that wasn’t enough — I hopped over to the Grunge Soul Project and bought the set they have there too! Who says a good loss leader can’t yield revenue!! 🙂 The lip color I’m wearing here is one of the Grunge Soul Project colors.

My dress is the newest release from MichaMi … you can always count on her clothing for a kind of timeless elegance. Well-made, as always — this will be a wardrobe staple for a long time to come. Her lines and fabric are so lovely that I kept the accessorizing to a minimum — this dramatic necklace from Miel, and one of the newest Truth hairs. Altogether — an easy look that will go most anywhere.

On a more “technical” note — I’ve long had a goal to learn to use Photoshop more effectively in my photos. So — you’re going to have to suffer thru that with me!! Its my intention to use these techniques for parts of the picture that don’t really distort the actual fashions I’m showing … but I’ll make a note if I do otherwise. Right now — I’m practicing the useful art of liquifying, and this was my first attempt! I used it just to fix some pointy elbows and jagged body lines. I had actually been a little intimidated by the thought… but I think it went pretty well!

I have been crazy about Sn@tch clothing for ages now… and pretty much every week I add a slew of new items to my shopping list. So when my husband (why yes — that is a wedding ring on my finger!) wanted to buy me something sexy and fun to wear… Sn@tch was our first stop. I fell in love with these pastel net shirts — sweet and spicy all at the same time, and actually quite versatile. I could see this worn as an interesting layer in a lot of different looks. Here — I’m keeping it pretty simple with just a couple of vintage accessories. The panties and stockings are included in the pack, as well as a bunch of different colors — all for one amazing price, as always.

And speaking of accessories — this vintage pearl necklace was a former group gift from Dark Mouse — and its fantastic! If you don’t belong to her group… why??? She gives out some fantastic gift, has great sales — and all of her work is just terrifically well-made.

I’ve been inspired lately by so many of the terrific photos I see on the fashion feeds — I’ve been trying to get out of my photosphere a little more. This time I made it as far as my studio backyard, where I have set up this fantastic prefab from L2 Studio. I know you can’t see a whole lot of it in this photo, but you can see some amazing pictures on Grazia Horwitz’s new home & garden blog, Fanciful Living in a Virtual World! I adore the layout of this house, as well as the wonderful texturing.

My outfit is a quick summer look I put together with these terrific capris from Sn@tch. They are the current Blue Light Special, and I believe they will be disappearing this weekend! So definitely hurry! The pack includes 8 candy colors, and are perfect for kicking around the grid this summer.

I’ve got so much goodness on today, its hard to know where to start! Some of it is new, some not-so-new… but all of it is terrific!

I was thrilled to have some time recently to wander around the Accessories Fair. The fair runs thru June 26th, 3pm slt… so you still have plenty of time to get out there. And, honestly — it was really pretty easy to get around, and a very charming build. I enjoyed myself a great deal. I snapped up these amazing Gos sunglasses as soon as I arrived. Because I’m a colorful kinda girl, I got the fully loaded pair — but you can also get a more basic sunglass — both of them 50% off during the fair — and you really can’t beat that! The various options for personalizing your look are just mindboggling — you’ve got your entire summer wardrobe in one pair of glasses. I also picked up this terrific necklace from new-to-me ruchica — I couldn’t resist the bird motif, and I loved the clasp at the front of the necklace — what a terrific little detail. I’m going to look forward to checking out more of this designer’s work. One of the really cool things about going to fairs is that you often get an opportunity to see things you liked when you first saw them, but just never picked up. That was the case with the wonderful Trouble charm bracelets from Aluinn. They aren’t new releases, but just the perfect fun bracelets to add to my collection.

My new shirt is from London & Bird — something I actually first saw on Flickr. I’m not sure they have an inworld shop yet, but you can get this on the marketplace. I’m wearing the jacket layer in this picture — its the only layer that has a hem at the bottom — and I think its just the perfect length. If you’re using a browser that lets you wear multiple items on the same layer, you shouldn’t run into any problems, but wanted you to be aware in case you are trying to layer this with a jacket. For 30L each — these shirts are a great wardrobe staple.

And these pants!!! If you haven’t checked out some of the terrific stuff at insanya, you are so missing out! These fantastic capris are superbly textured, and so wearable. You actually get two versions of the pants — with a shadow that corresponds with the cargo pocket (shown here), and one without. I LOVE that attention to detail. I’m wearing the capris here with my Gos Urban boots — and actually love the look with the checkered cuff. But they would actually look terrific with some great sneakers too. The pants come in a variety of patterns — all of them great.
